Pushing for Promotion

I don't know about you but I hate promotion. I hate opening myself up for rejection. But this week I've been brave and have been emailing and posting and pimping. Here's what I've done, let me know in the comments if you can think of other good ways for designers/creators/crafters/artists to promote themselves...
  • Emailed the editors of my favourite design blogs with a mini-press release
  • Submitted my work to some consigment stores
  • Created a facebook page
  • Twittered a bit
  • Blogged every day
  • Updated my We Love Etsy page
  • Listed every day on etsy
  • Added photos to flickr (bearing in mind the TOU)
I have some other plans but I don't think that's too bad for my first week. I'll be back tomorrow, in the meantime, enter my contest, read UK Handmade and The Crafty Bride oh and put your feet up and have a cup of tea!

Good for you! In my opinion, only sustained promotion gets results.

Studies have shown that ads that run in national newspapers have to run for WEEKS before they're worth it.

*gets off soap box*

I found your blog through the etsy forums!

Love your blog and your shop. Everything is so bring and sunny!

I don't really have any other ideas for promotion. I am having a tough time with it too. I'm such an introvert and it is tough for me to get myself out there. I find it so much easier to promote online than in person. I need to get over my fear and hit the street and do it.

Ok, this is the longest post of all time. Sorry!
