Walking and creating to fight Breast Cancer

As some of you may remember, last year I took part in the Playtex Moonwalk in aid of Breast Cancer. It's a 26.2 mile walk starting at midnight (hence moonwalk) where participants wear decorated bras and walk through the night to raise money for breast cancer charities.

Here's a picture of me and the girls I walked with last year...

We're aiming to complete it a little quicker this year as 9 hours was a very long time (we were stuck in a queue for at least an hour of that time). It happens on the 19th May so we've got quite a lot of training to do before then (walking 10 miles today).

Now on to the "creating" part of the title of this post. I was looking around Etsy the other day and came across this beautiful pendant by tvtrayart.
I bought one to wear when I do my walk as all proceeds from the sale of the pendant go to the fight against breast cancer. It's a personal cause for Susan- her Mother is currently fighting the disease and she has made pendants for all the girls in her family to show their support.

So if you can spare a few pounds/dollars please support the fight against breast cancer by buying a pendant or by sponsoring me. Thank you.

I ma SO proud of you for doing this! I remember when you were getting ready for the last one. I'll check my account, but I would love to sponsor you. My Great Aunt that passed away in December was a breast cancer survivor. She had a double mastectomy and kept on going. A fabulous woman that gave me, and countless other women, courage to keep fighting.

HUGS and much, much love to you!!

Thanks Pinky, just knowing there are friends all around the world supporting me is enough for me- I'll be thinking of you all on the night of the walk.
Your Great Aunt sounds like an amazing woman- an inspiration. x

Common Breast Cancer Myths

The first myth pertaining to this disease is that it only affects women.

Second myth that is associated with this disease is that if one has found a lump during an examination, it is cancer.

Third is that it is solely hereditary

The next myth associated with breast cancer is downright ridiculous. Would you believe, that in this day and age, some individuals still think that breast cancer is contagious?

Conversely, some individuals foolishly believe that breast size determines whether or not one gets cancer.

Finally, another myth that is associated with this disease is that it only affects older people. This is not so. Although the chance of getting breast cancer increases with age, women as young as 18 have been diagnosed with the disease.
