Christmas crafting

I've been preparing for Christmas for a while but I have definitely got in to the swing of it this week with cards, decorations and gifts being the focus. Here's a little mosaic of the items being turned out by Santa's little helper (me) this week:

Everything except the scarf are for the fair I'm doing very soon now. The scarf is for either my Mum or Step-Mum for Christmas.

So is October too early to be thinking about Christmas? Have you started your Christmas crafting yet?

Crafting 365 Days 15 & 16

Crafting 365: Day 7 & 8

Not much to say today so here are days 7 & 8 of the Crafting 365.

Day 7:


Added a little needle felted flower to the crocheted scarf.

Day 8:


Started another scarf, in "Ginger Snap" this time. Do you like the bowl it's sitting in? 50p from a charity shop, bargain!

Crafting 365: Day 5 & 6

Well today is actually day 8 for me but I need to take some photos so here are 5 & 6:

Crafting 365 (picking up where I left off): Day 4

So I got a bit behind on Crafting 365 to say the least but I'm back now and I'm teaching myself a new craft, crochet. I got the book quick crochet huge hooks out of the library as it looked like my sort of thing- I like quick results when it comes to crafting. So armed with a 15mm hook (size Q) I got hooking and have the early stages of a lovely soft purple scarf in my possession.



Sorry the picture isn't the best, I took it last night.

So far I'm finding crochet quite straightforward but then I've only learnt one stitch so far so it's early days. Any beginner crochet tips from any of my lovely readers?

Crafting 365: Day 2 & 3

Day 2:

Finished and listed this card, the dots are needle felted, a skill the lovely Charlotte taught us whilst in York.



Day 3:

Finished my first ever scrapbook page:



I really enjoyed it and will definitely be making another one soon. I decided my flowery scrapbook papers weren't suitable for a layout featuring my brother so here's a quick summary of the steps I used to make this layout:

1. Printed the photo!
2. Cut a piece of sketch paper to 8x8"
3. Covered the paper with slightly watered down blue acrylic paint. I kept it quite "rough" with some bits more covered than others.
4. Got my little tiny alphabet stamps and made the word "family". Stamped them in black ink haphazardly all over the paper in all directions.
5. Got the black ink pad and rubbed it over the paper in a random fashion until I like how it looked!
6. Did a little random machine stitching on the paper
7. Stencilled "bro + sis" on the orange luggage label.
8. Stapled the photo and luggage label on the paper. I played around with the positions for a while before stapling. Added the silver clip.
9. Spelt out family in some fancy stickers at the bottom.
10. Done.
